Central Islamic Trust is a distinguished non-profit organization that was established in 1956 to address the pressing needs of the Muslim community in greater Johannesburg and Gauteng. CIT is dedicated to providing comprehensive services, including Islamic education, welfare, bursaries, and burial services to the Muslim Ummah.

At CIT, we believe that genuine change occurs when individuals are empowered to make a positive impact. Our mission is driven by a commitment to making a difference, ensuring the proper fulfillment of Janaaza rights, offering support and guidance to bereaved families, and allocating our resources to those who need them the most.

We want to emphasize that our focus is not on seeking recognition for our organization but on achieving our goals. Central Islamic Trust serves as a dedicated vehicle, helping us reach our objectives and contribute meaningfully to the welfare of the Muslim community in greater Johannesburg and Gauteng.

Corporate Governance and Policies

CIT has, and is in the process of developing, firm policies of corporate governance. CIT operates in a manner where principles of good governance are adhered to. These include:

In responding to poverty and suffering, our efforts are driven by sincerity of our intentions and the need to fulfill our obligations to humanity. Our intention is for the pleasure of the Almighty. Islam teaches us to be truthful and reliable and to avoid wastefulness. Therefore, we are committed to conducting efficient allocation of resources and to be clear and open about our policies.

We have been trusted for over 60 years by donors in distributing donations, building up knowledge, expertise, and credibility to ensure that your money reaches those who need it quickly, effectively, and with full transparency. CIT is concerned with the honest and optimum distribution of your donations. This is because we understand the great Amaanah (trust) that we have been given by accepting your donations and distributing them to those in need. The financials of CIT are open to the public for inspection at any time.
